Hartshorne Trail- Nice trail
October 30 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Park opens at 7 a.m. 365 days a year.
Closing time is 9:30 p.m. through July 17; 9 p.m. July 18-August 15; and 8:30 p.m. August 16-31.
Hike through mountain laurel over rolling hills, enjoy river and ocean views, and check out military bunkers from WWII.
I usually like to hike down by the water as well
We will do 4 miles. Packed dirt with roots, a minor amount of rocks. Decent amount of rolling hills but nothing real steep. The trails are multi-use and this is a popular mountain biking spot.
A hilly, forested 794-acre site overlooking the Navesink River, this park is among the highest elevations along the Atlantic Coast and features prominently in area history as a former coastal defense site. Known for its challenging trail system and scenic views, Hartshorne Woods is a popular park for area hikers, bicyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.
