Watchung Reservation History Trail & Deserted Village Hike

Hike will be approximately 5.5 miles, with about 450 feet of elevation gain. We will meet at the Trailside Nature and Science Center where there are modern restrooms. Starting on the History Trail we will pass the scenic gorge and site of the old copper mine. Continuing along Blue Brook if it is not too muddy or wet we will detour into the deserted Village of Feltville where are also modern restrooms. From there we will circle Lake Surprise and join up with the History Trail again to complete the hike.
Total hike should be around 5.5 miles with about 450 feet of elevation gain. We will hike at a reasonable pace and no one will be left behind.
As always you are solely responsible for your own safety. You will be in the woods on trails with roots, rocks, mud and other hazards.
